Qiagen is a global biotechnology company that specializes in the development and manufacture of technologies and products for molecular diagnostics and life science research. The products developed support, for example, research institutions, hospitals, clinical laboratories, and pharmaceutical companies in diagnosing diseases, developing new drugs, and conducting basic research in biology.

Project Description

At the Hilden site, the “Q3” logistics building was significantly expanded to increase production capacity. The three-story addition, planned in collaboration with fastplan GmbH and constructed by Köster GmbH, expands the production and logistics space by just under 4,000 square meters. The automated vertical conveyor system for pallets connects the ground floor to the first floor. The conveyor system and building have already been designed to allow for easy connection to the second floor in the future.

The vertical conveyor, located in a corner of the building, is equipped with two roller conveyors, allowing it to be used simultaneously for transport in both directions via the infeed and outfeed conveyor sections mounted on each floor. The storage capacity of these conveyor sections decouples the workflows on the different floors.
