The Customer

“optimal” is a service provider in the media industry that produces and distributes CDs, DVDs, vinyl records, and much more for the European market from its facility in Röbel.

Optimal is a wholly owned subsidiary of “edel AG” and was founded in 1990.

Technical Specifications

• Material to be handled: EURO pallets weighing up to 1,000 kg
• 2 sections of congestion (on the bridge), each 35 meters long
• Elevator drive: circulating roller chain… with a frequency-controlled SEW gearmotor
• The maximum throughput is 60 cycles per hour.
• Control system: S7-300

The Execution

The conveyor system connects the production building to the warehouse. In the warehouse, forklifts place the pallets onto the roller conveyor (or remove them from it) and transport them across the bridge. In the production area, there are unloading points on two levels. A vertical conveyor connects the upper floor to the ground floor. A total of 6 staging areas are available on each level.

Design Details

The pallets are unloaded at ground level via drive-over chain conveyors. The conveyors are raised pneumatically by air bellows located on the sides. These conveyors were designed with a minimum structural height of 150 mm.

The Control System

This system is controlled by a Siemens S7-300. In addition, there is a destination selection panel at the loading station in the production area. In the warehouse, the destination (ground floor or upper floor) is selected via a radio transmitter. A pallet tracking system records the pallet’s transport. The system is equipped with a manual control pendant for emergencies.
