The cardboard conveyor systems for Lines 1 through 4 connect the designated interfaces on the packaging machines with the respective palletizing stations.
Grouping
The cartons are fed into the ZF42 robotic servo feeding station in a longitudinal orientation and pre-grouped into rows or half-piles. The system includes a pre-grouping unit with an integrated 90° rotator. The product row is then pre-synchronized, lifted out, and picked up by the fork gripper. The products are subsequently placed on the pallet by the multifunctional fork gripper system in a program-controlled manner. The interlayers are vacuumed directly from the stack (on the pallet).
Robotic Palletizing
The cartons are palletized using four articulated-arm robots from KUKA (4 axes, reach 3.2 m). The Arctic robot is certified for a temperature range down to -30°C and has been tested worldwide. The maximum handling weight of the machines is 180 kg (excluding the gripper weight).
The system is controlled via the KRC4 robot controller from KUKA. According to the manufacturer, the robot has a cycle rate of up to 6 cycles per minute. Safety in the robot cell is ensured by a perimeter safety fence system. Each access door is equipped with a limit switch and an electric lock to prevent unauthorized access to the system.
The existing graphical programming device from KUKA is included once in the scope of delivery and is designed to be plugged in as a separate control unit at each robot cell.
