Order-Picking Systems

Picking is carried out in a wide variety of ways. When goods are brought to the worker, material handling systems come into play!

Picking—that is, the process of selecting specific sub-sets (items) of various types from a given product range based on a created order—requires a high degree of flexibility in internal logistics to meet constantly changing demands.

Picking Methods

Customer orders usually consist of several line items. In practice, a variety of picking methods are used to process these customer orders smoothly and without errors. Three basic methods and their variations are described below. They differ in terms of their information and material flows, as well as their organization.
