The Karl Schmidt Spedition GmbH is a leading company in the field of bulk goods logistics and is headquartered in Heilbronn, Germany. The company was founded in 1948 and is now an internationally active logistics service provider specializing in the transport, storage, and handling of bulk goods such as chemicals, food products, and plastic pellets.

With its 800 tanker trucksand 5,000 containers, the company offers logistics services at your customers’ facilities.

Project Descriptiong

In the FFrankfurter Höchst Industrial Park , Schmidt operates a logistics facility for the supply polypropylene granules for the chemical company Celanese and manages the on-site storage and distribution of the products here. To optimize and decouple the processes, the company is now moving away from using the existing freight elevatorit the one we supplied vertical conveyor system is used.

The unloading of goods delivered on chemical pallets is by forklift onto the conveyor system installed beneath the drive-through structure. The pallets are then automatically from there via the conveyor system next to them building.

There, the pallets are are made available, removed by forklifts, and fed into the subsequent processing stages. The system is equipped with a traffic-light-controlled reverse function for returning partially used and empty pallets.

  • Isopanel cladding customized to the existing facade at the customer’s request

  • Throughput of over 30 pallets per hour
  • Security technology meeting chemical park standards, consisting of a fencing system with safety light barriers, each combined with forklift detection via an induction loop, as well as two high-speed machine safety doors
  • Siemens SIMATIC S7-1200 controller in combination with a Pilz safety controller
  • Siemens KTP 700 touch panels with system visualization at both control stations
  • Remote access via a secure IP-VPN router
