Emsland Frischgeflügel GmbH in Haren is part of the Rothkötter Group and one of the production sites for fresh chicken products. Innovative products are sold not only under the company’s own “Landgeflügel” brand but also in various package sizes to food retailers and wholesalers as fresh or frozen products.

The facilities in Haren and Wietze are among the most modern slaughterhouses in Germany and Europe.

Project Description

The sprawling building complex was expanded with an addition that serves as a supply storage area on the ground floor—complete with various truck loading docks—and as a space for pre-production work and machinery on the first floor, with a direct connection to the production area.

The critical vertical connection between the two floors is redundantly ensured by two independent vertical transport systems, each with a freely definable transport direction. The particular challenge is, on the one hand, the requirement to transport pallets mixed with special load carriers (with 9 feet) on the same system, and, secondly, the requirement to arrange both systems on a floor area constrained by the hall axes in such a way that a freight elevator can be retrofitted later to supplement the system.

Since the two-story addition is already designed to accommodate a third story, care was taken to ensure that the conveyor systems could be expanded accordingly.
